The sixth annual Schuyler County Growin’ Around the Glen Farm Tour returns Sept. 27. Schuyler Co.’s finest farms are once more opening their doors to the public, offering tours, tastings, demonstrations, apple picking, shopping and opportunities to meet the farm animals.
Now is the perfect time to go on a farm tour and disconnect from the online world while reconnecting with our food sources. This year CCE educators be will at several of the tour stops to speak with guests on a variety of topics:
- Ryan Staychock, environmental/natural resources educator, will be hosting a composting demo at Ort Family Farm
- Shawn Tubridy, garden and horticulture coordinator, will be leading tours for medicinal walks at Muddy Fingers Farm
- The 4-H Fiber Arts Club will be at Four Season Alpacas & Rug Weaving demonstrating spinning techniques using a drop spindle
As always, farm visitors can purchase all sorts of goodies, including hand-crafted cheeses, produce, apples, veggies, jams, cider, donuts, pies and alpaca products.
Ready to plan your tour? Details regarding participating farms can found be on glengrown.org and the CCE Schuyler Facebook page.
