Good Neighbor

Good Neighbor

Be Friendly!

Wave, say hello or simply smile when you’re out and about in the neighborhood.

Establish Communication.

Particularly if you’ve just moved into a new neighborhood, it’s a good idea to introduce yourself to neighbors and show that you’re interested in being a part of the community.

Look Out for One Another.

Keep an eye on one another’s homes, and let neighbors know if you notice any suspicious activity. If it looks like a neighbor needs assistance with something, offer a helping hand.

Be Mindful of Noise Levels.

Be conscious of loud music and activities, especially in the evenings or early mornings. Even noises like exhaust fans and laundry can be disruptive late at night or early in the morning if you share walls.

Be a Respectful Pet Owner.

Use a leash when walking dogs, keep them off neighbors’ lawns, clean up any pet waste and deposit waste in your own trash can. Don’t allow pets to relieve themselves on a neighbor’s property; instead, guide them toward street curbs.

Keep It Neat.

Maintain your property, and keep sidewalks clear of overgrowth.

Don’t litter, and opt to put trash in its proper place.

Address Conflicts Early and Peacefully.

If an issue comes up with a neighbor, talk about it with them directly in a nonconfrontational manner. Notes, texts or emails can be easily misinterpreted when trying to resolve a conflict, often making problems worse.
